BRM - Gentlemen Start Your Engines
British Racing Motors (generally known as BRM) was a British Formula 1 motor racing team. Founded in 1945, it raced from 1950 to 1977, competing in 197 Grand Prix and winning 17. In 1962, BRM won the Constructors' Title. At the same time, its driver, Graham Hill became World Champion. In 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1971, BRM came second in the Constructors' Competition.
BRM was founded just after the Second World War by Raymond Mays, who had built several hillclimb and road racing cars under the ERA brand before the war, and Peter Berthon, a long-time associate. Mays' pre-war successes (and access to pre-war Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union design documents) inspired him to build an all-British Grand Prix car for the post-war era, as a national prestige project (which, naturally, he would drive himself!) with the backing (both financially and in kind and labour) of the British motor industry and its suppliers channelled through a trust fund. This proved to be an unwieldy way of organising and financing the project, and as some of the backers withdrew, disappointed with the team's slow progress and early results, it fell to one of the partners, Alfred Owen, to take over the team in its entirety. Between 1954 and 1970 the team entered its works F1 cars under the official name of the Owen Racing Organisation. Berthon and Mays continued to run the team on his behalf into the 1960s before it was taken over by one of the relatives of the Owen family in the late 1960's till the brand died in the 1970's.
Take a look at some of the BRMs in todays newsletter, we are sure you will enjoy it. Racingdeal.com provides you with a wide variety of classic cars on a day by day basis and we are proud to do so. BRM Scirocco F1 Car A tough-talking Italo-American with a nice sideline in selling Mexican lobsters, a son of a US millionaire mortician, a double-barrelled engineer/designer and an ace fabricator nicknamed The Weld met in a pub on the Goldhawk Road in Londons Shepherds Bush. It may sound like the start of a joke, but they were deadly serious: they were going F1. The car they built - the Scirocco of 1963 - looked the part: neat, narrow and eye-catching in blue and white, Americas official racing colours. Its smart [...] Price:on request |

BRM P261 No 2 BRM P261 No 2
BRM followed up their World Championship succes of 1962 with the Tony Rudd penned P61. This was a very close follower of the design ideas and thoughts proved by Colin Chapman with the Lotus 25. A stressed skinned monocoque, it was taken to all races after Spa in 1963, although the drivers tended to prefer the earlier, Championship winning specification P57. By 1964 Rudd had refined things a stage further, however, and the P261 was ready to race.

Stirling Moss, no less, reckoned it the finest front-engined Grand Prix car hed ever driven. But nobody had expected Jo Bonnier to stick it on pole position at Zandvoort, scene of the 1959 Dutch Grand Prix. The aloof Swede, in only his fourth Grand Prix with the team, retreated behind his neatly trimmed beard and appeared to be taking it all in his stride. As was the team. BRM, renowned for its last-minute tinkering, blind panic even, had composed itself. All seemed calm.

| The Luzzago name is synonomous with quality, a symbol of Brescia, based in the town of Mille Miglia, a solid and stable reality in the vintage car sector. One shared passion makes the customer a friend Luzzago's success is based upon a close relationship with it's customers many of whom are or become friends. Whoever purchases a classic car does so with a spirit quite diverse from those buying a modern automobile. The client arrives at Luzzago with a desire to travel back in time at the wheel of a Jaguar or Triumph like the ones driven thirty or forty years ago: a desire to escape the constraints of contemporary living and discover new emotions that perhaps they could not permit themselves when younger; the joy of grasping a large wooden steering wheel, without power steering that transmits the heart of the road through your hands, whilst the wind rushes through your hair. Cristiano and Valerio know this desire all too well, the focus of their last 28 years has been based upon it so a visit to Luzzago is a good excuse to take time out and immerse yourself in that passion. |
