Saturday, May 26, 2007 Fiat - A Brand That Will Always Be Remembered Founded on the 11th of July 1899, through 8 boardmembers, among them Giovanni Agnelli Senior, the grandfather of the late president Gianni Agnelli, Fiat has overcome all kinds of crises till the present and even survived the planned corporate takeover through General Motors in 2005. The first Fiat that has ever been produced was a 3 1/2 HP, of which 20 units were sold from 1899 till 1900. This model was followed by the 6/8 HP, the 8 HP and the 12 HP and what was amazing at that point in time, these cars were already exported to France, Great Britain and the USA. From the 1900s till today Fiat has become one of the biggest automotive groups in existence, but has also diversified into the areas of insurance, finance and banking.
