Austin-Healey – A Brand That Will Never Be Forgotten

Austin-Healey has always been a sportscar brand, that has been in the focus of collectors and sportscar enthusiasts alike. The marque was established through a joint venture arrangement set up in 1952 between the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and Donald Healey, a renowned automotive engineer and designer. Healey produced cars until 1972 when the 20-year agreement between Healey and Austin came to an end. Donald Healey left the company in 1968 when British Motor Holdings (BMC had merged with Jaguar Cars in 1966 to form BMH) was merged into British Leyland.
Today the name Austin is owned by Nanjing who bought the assets of MG Rover Group. The Healey brand on the other hand was registered to a new firm, Healey Automobile Consultants, which the Healey family sold to HFI Automotive in 2005. The brand has survived in the hearts of the enthusiasts.

Take a look at some of the Austin-Healeys in todays newsletter and we are sure you will enjoy them. We are here to provide you with an everyday selection of these fine sportscars. Austin Healey MK 1
A significant step in terms of Big Healey evolution and foundation block for one of the 1960s most charismatic rally cars, the 3000 MKI was introduced in March 1959. Capable of nearly 120mph, it was powered by an enlarged 2912cc version of the BMC C-Series straight six engine that developed some 124bhp and 167lbft of torque. Although, equipped with a similar chassis design to its 100/6 forebear, the new model enjoyed notably better braking thanks to the adoption of Girling front discs. Fitted wi [...]

In the middle 1980’s Russell Baldwin & Bright (est.1846) sold its estate agency business along with its original name, whilst retaining the remainder of the business (Markets, Fine Arts, Vehicle Auctions etc) under the modified name of Russell Baldwin & Bright Markets. When Russell Baldwin & Bright Markets recently decided to re-enter the property market they were hoping to repurchase the estate agency business from current owners Chancellors. Negotiations proved unfruitful and so the decision was taken to adopt a new name for the whole business. Thus Brightwells was born and sees the reintroduction of a quality residential, agricultural and commercial property sale and lettings operation based at Cathedral Chambers in Hereford with 6 offices around the region. So, for clarification, the existing Russell Baldwin & Bright estate agency remains unconn ected with the historic business, which now trades under the new banner of Brightwells. With its network of long-established and diverse departments, Brightwells prides itself on national and international respect in numerous areas of business. It incorporates the fastest growing Bloodstock Department in the country, a Livestock business extending throughout the Welsh borders, an extensive Agricultural Management and Advisory Service, the largest Four-Wheel Drive Auction in the country, a leading provincial Fine Art Saleroom and finally a new and rapidly developing Financial Services division. Brightwells will continue to provide service to the highest professional standards. The vastly experienced team see themselves as trustees of a long and great tradition that was synonymous with the name of Russell Baldwin & Bright and now continues under the banner of Brightwells.
