This is a wonderful time to be in. The collectors car markets every year break new records and there a great automobiles and events to enjoy.
We got a very positive feedback on our first newsletter and we were encouraged to continue with our direction of giving you an investment newsletter - just on sports and racingcars, not on lifestyle, aeroplanes, watches, nice wines or other beauties.
So we will stick to our guns! Just fine automobiles is what we live for. You can count on over 25 years of experience and passion with these big boys toys.
sincerely yours Kay Hafner

The most valuable cars in the world!
Have you ever thought what the most expensive cars are and what they are worth? Hope you can still find one of these in a barn?
This is our list:
1. Mercedes Benz 300 SLR Roadster or Coupe 20-25 Mio. Euro 2. Bugatti Type 41 Royale 15-20 Mio. Euro 3. Ferrari GTO 12-15 Mio. Euro 4. Mercedes Benz W 196 GP 12-15 Mio. Euro 5. Alfa Romeo 8 C 2900 B Spider Corsa 12-15 Mio. Euro 6. Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic 10-15 Mio. Euro 7. Mercedes Benz W125 GP 10-15 Mio. Euro 8. Ferrari 330 P 4 7-12 Mio. Euro 9. Of course all estimates are depending on history and originality and there some special collectors automobiles, which are not named and still can come into this list, because of a special ownership or history. But we thought it’s a nice overview… |

Investment Market: Switzerland
Switzerland is a very exclusive country, which still not belongs to the European Community. Quality is the dominant factor in the market and with Swiss collectors. Buyers are very selective and in their immaculate garages and collections they expect mint condition. Many important collections are located in Switzerland and significant car auction sales are held in Geneva. The annual Ferrari sale at Gstaad is a world-class event as well as some special events in St. Moritz, Zürich, Basel and Toffen. The Raid Schweiz-Paris is a famous Rallye and the most important classic car magazine in Switzerland is “Swiss Classics”. There is less interest in veterans and more focus on period competition cars or luxury post-war cars like Ferrari, 300 SL, Cobras/Shelbys, GT 40 and all kind of Italian classics. Left-hand drive is essential and the Swiss like direct imports from the Netherlands or Germany or UK, rather than dealing directly with overseas markets. Import tax is 11,6 percent and exporting a Swiss-registered car into the UK or Germany can cost 17,5 percent, when the car had not been registered before in Europe - and another 10 percent duty, if the car was not built in the European Community. racingdeal.com is seeing a number of very active visitors with a share on total visits of already 5% - although the country is very small. |

Future Classic: TVR Sagaris
TVR is a wonderful sports car manufacturer. Very consequent in building real sportscars and one of the few small factorys, which survived all the ups and downs of the 80’s and 90’s.
Every Sagaris comes with TVR’s all-aluminium 380 bhp six-cylinder-Engine and five-speed manual transmission. A main dealer history is critical to the cars value. The few used models on the market are selling now for around 60-70000 Euros - the car costs 80-90000 Euros new, depending on the important extras and options.
A real distinctive racer for the road! |

Hot Investment: Lamborghini Road Cars
Lamborghini is among the most famous marques in the world. These are collectors cars of extremes and very often you find only small numbers in the countries, because of their distinctive image. Many of these cars had been neglected for a long time, but we feel that there is a turnaround in the market now. Buying a Lamborghini demands thorough search on history and ownership, especially when you are attracted by low prices. We see a good timing now, because Lamborghini is backed by the solid and dependable Audi company and because first retro-styles (like the Miura) are coming on the market. This is the time to buy the original supercars from the seventies like the Miura as the jewel in Lamborghinis crown and the wild Countach. Good investment perspectives are also with the 350 GT and the 400 GT. Urracos, Isleros, Silhouettes, Espadas and Jalpas are relative good value, but will remain low end of the range. Their basic restoration costs seem to high in regarding the total value of these cars. |

Revival: E-Type Roadster Series I
Jaguar’s iconic E-Type roadster is getting back into the limelight. The last american Auctions saw an unexpected comeback with significant higher prices than the year before. Now early E-types are excellent drivers and buys and will narrow the difference to the more expensive XK-range. Look for a good history car, matching number engine and Moss-box (yes, you have to learn to operate this beast!) and you will have a sound performer in your portfolio! |

Smart Investment: Barn Finds and Scrapyard Beauties
Our planet seems to be sprinkled with great classic cars, which can be driven, parked, scrapped or exposed as art. The Classic Motorsports Magazine had some nice shots in their “RanWhenParked”-section and we thought you might think about using your garden differently in the future… |
