1968 Porsche 911S Softwindow Targa

Very rare 68 S Targa Softie. Those cars rarely come to market and are particularly rare in the US as they were never offered here officially.
This car made its way over from Germany in 1972 and stayed with one family in Kansas for 30 years, before it was purchased by the current owner. Unfortunately, there is not a whole lot of documentation accompanying the vehicle, except for a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, which confirms this to be a fully numbers matching car.

The current owner had the car restored about 18 months ago. The body was taken down to bare metal, repaired and painted in its correct polo red. The top and interior was completely redone and all trim and chrome pieces were restored or replaced.

The engine was rebuilt under the first US ownership but we’re missing the paperwork on the work. The engine would probably benefit from a re-seal due to its long non-operational status. It runs great and pulls strong all the way to redline.

The car is missing its original heat exchangers and runs headers currently.

1968er Porsche 911S Softwindow Targa

Seltener 68er S Targa Softwindow. Dieses Fahrzeug wurde neu in Deutschland verkauft und von einem US Army Angestellten in 1972 in die USA exportiert. Dort war der Wagen 30 Jahre bei einer Familie in Kansas, bevor er vor 8 Jahren an den heutigen Besitzer verkauft wurde.

Der heutige Besitzer hat den Wagen lange nicht bewegt, bevor er dann vor rund 18 Monaten eine komplette Restauration vorgenommen hat. Die Karosserie wurde bis auf das Blech entlackt, repariert und im korrekten Porsche Ton Polorot neu lackiert. Innenausstattung, Targa Top und Fenster sowie alle Chrom und Edelstahlteile wurden komplett ersetzt oder restauriert.

Der Motor wurde wohl in den 90er Jahren bereits einmal revidiert, allerdings liegen keinerlei Belege hierzu vor.
Das Triebwerk läuft sehr gut, ist aber doch deutlich ölfeucht und würde von einer neuen Abdichtung profitieren. Die originalen Wärmetausche wurden gegen Fächerkrümmer ersetzt.

Es liegt eine Porsche Originalitätsurkunde vor die dem Wagen “matching numbers” bescheinigt.

Die Softwindow Targas, insbesondere in S Spezifikation erfreuen sich grosser Beliebtheit bei Sammlern und kommen nur selten auf den Markt.
